[Maine-birds] Bangor Area Bird Walks

Greetings all. Our free bird walks are starting up this Saturday! ...


Penobscot Valley Chapter of Maine Audubon and Fields Pond Audubon Center Present​ Neighborhood Bird Walks

 

Unless otherwise indicated, all walks are from 7:00 – 8:30 AM.  Rubber boots or waterproof shoes are recommended due to wet grass and occasional muddy conditions.  In consideration of wildlife and fellow birders, no pets please on the bird walksPlease call 989-2591 with any questions.​

 

Saturday, May 3:  Hirundo Wildlife Refuge, Old Town

Leaders:  Paul Markson, Gudrun Keszoecze

Take I-95 to exit 197; go 4.75 mi. west on Rt. 43; look for large red signs on the right; enter refuge at gate 1, proceed ½ mi. to Pine Tree parking area

 

Wednesday, May 7:  Indian Trail and Penobscot County Conservation Assn., Brewer

Leaders:  Gordon Russell, Jane Rosinski

Meet at Penobscot County Conservation Assn., North Main St.

 

Saturday, May 10 (Spring Fest - Int'l Migratory Bird Day):  Fields Pond Audubon Center, Holden

Leaders:  Bruce Barker, Jerry Smith

Meet in Fields Pond Audubon Center parking lot.

 

Monday, May 12:  Kenduskeag Stream Trail, Bangor

Leaders:  Hope Brogunier, Gordon Russell, Jane Rosinski

Meet in the 2nd parking lot upstream of the intersection of Valley Ave. and Bruce Rd.

 

Wednesday, May 14:  Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor

Leaders:  Jim and Kathy Zeman

Meet in the parking area inside the State St. entrance

 

Thursday, May 15:  Essex Woods, Bangor

Leader:  Bob Duchesne

Meet in the parking lot at the end of Watchmaker Rd.

 

Friday, May 16:  Saxl Park, Bangor

Leaders:  Laura Levenson, Elizabeth Payne

Meet in Cascade Park parking lot, just off State St.

 

Monday, May 19:  Leonard's Mills, Bradley

Leader:  Bob Duchesne

Meet at the junction of Government Rd and Rt. 178

 

Monday, May 19 (evening walk):  Chimney swift outing, Bangor

Leader:  Bob Milardo

Meet at 7:30 pm at State St. bridge over Kenduskeag Stream (between Main St. and Harlow St.)

 

Tuesday, May 20:  Northeast Penjajawoc Preserve, Bangor

Co-sponsored by Bangor Land Trust

Meet at BLT kiosk on Kittredge Rd. just before the power lines.

 

Thursday, May 22:  West Penjajawoc Preserve, Bangor

Co-sponsored by Bangor Land Trust

Meet at the dead end of Fox Hollow Lane, off Essex St.

 

Friday May 23:  Technology Park, Orono

Leaders:  Jerry Longcore, Jim Bird

Meet in the parking lot behind the Microdyne Building on Godfrey Dr.

 

Tuesday, May 27:  University of Maine campus, Orono

Leader:  Sandi Duchesne

Meet in the rear of the University Credit Union parking lot on Rangeley Rd.​
