[Maine-birds] The Midcoast is getting robbed

I just noticed something about the spring migration of 2014. The Midcoast is being sidestepped by a lot of species. It's almost as if certain migrants are following Rt 295 up to the NE, and are avoiding the "peninsulas" (Harpswell; Bath-Phippsburg; Arrowsic-Georgetown; Boothbay. ) A crossing of Casco Bay seems to be what's missing, possibly due to all the easterly weather we seem to be "enjoying".

Of course, Monhegan gives the lie to this observation, but doesn't it always?

The species I plotted on eBird maps include the following: Canada Warbler, REVireo, Sc. Tanager, BBCuckoo, Am. Redstart, Bobolink.

Some species, of course, do not fit this trend. Try it yourself with your favorites.

I can't really believe this is a sampling error. I've been birding hard on the peninsulas, as have other steady birders hereabouts. We're just getting 'dissed by the migrants this year.
