[Maine-birds] Other Monhegan highlights, 5.18.14

Highlights:
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher-1 in town
FOY Blackburnian W.-1 male, 1 female
several singing N. Waterthrushes
Singing Bobolink with a harem of 3-4
Virginia Rail calling in the Meadow
And finally FOY hummingbird at Rusty's feeder

So exciting to have some warblers come in! Spent many enjoyable hours birding this past weekend with a fun group of women from NH (thank you, Jess, Lisa, Robin, Ann, and Cindy!) I dipped on some of the birds they found today, including:

Bay-breasted W., first spotted by Gary and Susannah Cole, behind Sterling House
Summer Tanager-2 continuing birds, near the church
Lincoln's Sparrow-1 along Lobster Cove Rd.

On the way back to Port Clyde:
Iceland Gull-1 sitting on the water with a Herring Gull and 2 Laughing Gulls (for good size comparison), off Benner Island. Latest I think I've ever seen one.

Already looking forward to getting back out to Monhegan next weekend!
