[Maine-birds] Sabattus Pond, 10/23 (17 spp waterfowl!)

Jeannette and I enjoyed a very productive visit to Sabattus Pond in Sabattus today, highlighted by an impressive 17 species of waterfowl.  They, and other select highlights, were as follows:


1278 Ruddy Ducks (new personal high count for here. State record!?)

429 Mallards

144 Canada Geese

111 Lesser Scaup

100 scaup sp

50 Red-winged Blackbirds (one southbound flock)

46 American Black Ducks

21 Greater Scaup

11 American Black Duck x Mallard hybrids

11 Ring-necked Ducks

9 Hooded Mergansers

9 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS

8 Great Blue Herons

5 LONG-TAILED DUCKS

4 American Wigeons (first of fall)

4 Buffleheads

4 Common Loons

4 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS

3 Common Goldeneyes

2 Green-winged Teals

2 BLACK SCOTERS

2 Red-breasted Merfansers

2 Double-crested Cormorants

2 Horned Grebes

2 Snow Buntings

1 Northern Pintail
