If most of the birds that routinely visited your feeder this summer were finches, they've probably either migrated (purple), or begun their winter wandering (gold).  Except for adult goldfinches who at this time of year spend a month in Bermuda, being tired of a bunch of young birds following them around constantly, going "pee,cha,pee."  Adult cardinals often join them, leaving the kids to wander around looking for mom and dad.  😁  The same has happened at our feeder in the Midcoast, but we still have local ever-presents, such as Parids, nuthatches, woodpeckers.  The finches should be back in their own time....
