Re: [Maine-birds] Re: (Maine Birds) Mount Desert Island Birds: Hooded Merganser MDI Ponds

The woodcock has been in my field since the 10 th of march. Today I saw my first robins. I saw 2 eagles land on top of each other in a big spruce on Bear Island outside of NEH. Looking for bluebirds. Thought I saw a blue heron in the marsh at the oceanariums 3 days ago, but didn't turn around to check it out. Roberta

Hello all,

Looks like the ponds are
opening at MDI ponds and this years first bird is Hooded Merganser. Two breeding
plumage males in the second pond.  Nights are still cold here with sunshine
today  but not much above freezing. Maple trees are running  and
insects emerging as we head towards spring.
