Visitors:
81 people visited the hawkwatch. Thank you all for your interest in the project and your good questions!

Weather:
Skies were clear, with moderate and gusty winds from the north and north northwest. Temperatures were mostly in the forties and fifties, warming as the day progressed. There was a lull in the wind gusts during late afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
Considering the conditions, it was a good day of hawkwatching. Migration picked up a bit as winds calmed in the late afternoon. Most birds flew low, but a few streamed high over the summit later in the day. American Kestrels and Merlins zipped by at very quick speeds. The local Broad-winged Hawk continued displaying over Freeport several times.

Non-raptor Observations:
Brown-headed Cowbirds hung out around the summit throughout most of the day, with males calling and displaying.

36 bird species were observed. Species deemed migrating:
21 Double-crested Cormorants
17 Tree Swallows
3 Brown-headed Cowbirds
2 Barn Swallows
1 duck sp.

Predictions:
Tomorrow should be a great day, with mostly sunny skies, temperatures in the fifties, and light winds. Winds should start out westerly, shifting around later in the afternoon to become southwesterly. These conditions should cause a good day overall, and hopefully there will be a late day push of migrants.
