[Maine-birds] Large migration and lots of trillers in Augusta

Hi folks,

I went this afternoon to the Sidney portion of Eight Rod Road where it extends from Augusta.  There was a very large movement of, yellow-rumps, pine warblers, palm warblers, swamp sparrows, ruby-crowned kinglets and white-throated sparrows.

Yellow-rumps, pine warblers and white-throats were all over the place.

In our yard along Eight Rod Road, we had two chipping sparrows in the open right-of-way that runs through our yard.  It was interesting having five species of trillers singing at once in the right-of-way and contiguous edge habitats: pine warblers, swamp sparrows, chipping sparrows, juncos and palm warblers (more than 20 individual birds).  A handful of birds could not be identified due to overlapping song types or incomplete songs.

The tree sparrows were still present at the feeder.

Good birding,

Norm
