Hi all,
My non-shorebirds observations of note over the past seven days were mostly limited to observations in one afternoon of seawatching:
- 1 Cory's Shearwater, 108 Laughing Gulls (high), and 143 Northern Gannets, Dyer Point, Cape Elizabeth, 3:25-5:30pm on 9/5 (with Jeannette).
However, my shorebird high counts over the past seven days were as follows:
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER: 3 (2 ad, 1 juv), Jones Creek, Scarborough Marsh, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser. Video of one adult at: https://www.facebook.com/Freeportwildbird/videos). An additional 1 was over the Eastern Promenade in Portland on 9/9.
Black-bellied Plover: 54, Pine Point, Scarborough, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser).
Semipalmated Plover: ~100, Pine Point, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser).
Killdeer: 6, Highland Road, Brunswick, 9/4 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
Greater Yellowlegs: 7, Moody Marsh, Ogunquit/Wells, 9/6 (with Jeannette).
Lesser Yellowlegs: 11, Yarmouth Town Landing, 9/9.
"Eastern" Willet: 6 juv, Pine Point, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser).
"WESTERN" WILLET: 3 juv, Pine Point, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser)
Spotted Sandpiper: 3, Fort Foster, Kittery, 9/6 (with Jeannette).
Ruddy Turnstone: 4, The Nubble, Cape Neddick, 9/6 (with Jeannette).
Sanderling: 76, Pine Point Beach, Scarborough, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser).
Semipalmated Sandpiper: 200+, Pine Point, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser).
Least Sandpiper: 93, Eastern Road Trail, Scarborough Marsh, 9/4.
White-rumped Sandpiper: 2, Eastern Road Trail, 9/4.
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER (FOY): 2 juv, Eastern Road Trail, 9/4 (with Lena and Brad Moser).
Short-billed Dowitcher: 28, Wharton Point, 9/3 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
