[Maine-birds] More spring arrivals in the Kennebec Valley

Other new spring arrivals today in the Kennebec Valley included two Common Loons and an unusual inland Red-breasted Merganser, in the Kennebec River at Hallowell. Lots of other birds as well, including Wood Ducks, Green-winged Teal, Ring-necked Ducks, Common Goldeneye, Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser (106), and Tree Swallows (76):

Ice-free water in the area is very limited, including the Kennebec River, Belgrade Stream/Messalonskee Marsh and a few others, and may be focusing the early arrivals there. Both Bohemian and Cedar Waxwings are still around.
