[Maine-birds] Last Old Quarry Puffin Trip

Tropicbird no, success 7/11. We had our last puffin trip of the year. The good thing about this time of year is that literally hundreds of puffins are in the water around the island and on the rocks and several are feeding in the water on the way out. The bad thing is Razorbills are off the island but we have still been finding them in the water. This year was good for gannets, jaegers, and manx shearwaters. Saw as usual since July 10th or so, over 50 gannets, a dozen jaegers of various morphs and species (mostly parasitic), and a handful of Manx shearwaters (maybe 6-8 each way?). Also seen were a raft of 8 razorbills with 2 chicks, a dozen great shearwaters on the water, 2 fly-bys of sooty shearwaters, 100 or so wilson's storm-petrels and a couple glances of a foraging Minke whale. The fog was so thick we did not have a chance at the finicky Tropicbird.
