[Maine-birds] Fwd: What to do

Hi,
I received the message below from a friend.
Does anyone have an idea of how to get this Downy to stop boring holes in their homes?
Please respond off line.
The homes are in a very densely treed area - an old neighborhood -  mix wood's environment.
Thanks,
Marie

Hi, Marie,

I'm having a big problem with one very persistent Downy Woodpecker.  He has made holes in the crown molding (curved trim) on my house along the eaves.  Have tried lots of things, had two guys here to patch/repair, and now less than 12 hours since the last guy was here, the woodpecker is back and has made another hole plus I found a new one on the garage.  My neighbor across the street has five holes in her house trim.

What can I do to get rid of him or stop his pecking at our  homes???  Help!!!
