[Maine-birds] Monhegan, 5.19.19

And yet another great day of birding on the island!

Plenty of warblers still around, although we didn't add any new species. Josh Lincoln and I enjoyed an exciting up-close warbler experience at Fish Beach this afternoon, with 10 different warbler species feeding at our feet on the beach and along the stone jetty, including Black-throated Blue, Blackburnian, Bay-breasted, Blackpoll, Magnolia, and Yellow-rumped. Really amazing.

Earlier, Josh, Bill Thompson, and I saw Razorbill, N. Gannets, Spotted Sandpiper, and Laughing Gull at Lobster Cove, heard Swamp Sparrow and Eastern Towhee nearby. And came upon good pockets of warblers in the spruces behind the Yew, including Prairie, Magnolia, BT Blue, BT Green, along with Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Scarlet Tanagers, and Brown Thrasher.

To get a good sense of what the past few days have been like on the island, here's a link to the blog post of my birding buddy Bryan Pfeiffer. It includes photos of the Peregrine that dropped its prey, that I mentioned yesterday:
