Another great day of birding on the island! Boosted our trip warbler total to 20 by adding Prairie, Nashville, and Chestnut-sided. I (re-) located a/the female HOODED WARBLER early this morning in the thicket near Winter Works; Don Reimer later photographed it closer to the Island Inn. Also in that thicket: Black-billed Cuckoo, Veery, Great Crested Flycatcher. Nearby: Swainson's Thrush, flyover female EVENING GROSBEAK.

Other interesting sightings out and about the island: Peregrine Falcon, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Brown Thrasher, FOY Red-eyed Vireo, Warbling Vireo, fly-over Turkey Vulture (!).

Many very visible Scarlet Tanagers all over the island were a highlight for birders and non-birders alike. A more subtle bird that made a big appearance today was Least Flycatcher.

Also of note: this morning Bryan Pfeiffer, Josh Lincoln, and Bill Thompson had a Peregrine fly over carrying an empid, which it dropped near them. After examination, they thought that the empid was a Least Flycatcher, but we won't be getting voice confirmation.

Continuing birds of note include Baltimore and ORCHARD ORIOLES, VESPER SPARROW, Pine Siskin, Bay-Breasted and Cape May Warblers, vocal N. Waterthrushes, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks.

I'm probably forgetting stuff. We had a lot of fun.
