[Maine-birds] Scarborough Marsh, 10/3 - BLSK, LBBG, interior NESP

Hey everyone:

As previously reported, the Black Skimmer (BLSK) was putting on a show this afternoon along Jones Creek at Pine Point. I missed the Hudwit but the skimmer photo op made up for it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dhitchcox/8051596418/

There was also an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull (LBBG) in the co-op parking lot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dhitchcox/8051591717/

During the high tide (and rain) I walked down the Eastern Trail: As reported at River Point, Yellow-rumped Warblers were surprisingly abundant; I counted 39 between the parking lot and the tree line. 21 Horned Larks were my first of the fall and at least six American Pipits were another bonus migrant. At least six Nelson's Sparrows (NESP) were scattered amongst the spartina, two of which were the 'interior' (A. n. nelsoni) subspecies: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dhitchcox/8051591313/

Good birding,
