Dianne Winn and Marc Payne of Avian Haven, Bart's retirement home, has put together a marvelous retrospective of his life in honor of his 30th birthday. Included are photos and newspaper articles from his juvenile days recuperating from the gunshot wound that resulted in his career as an educational bird and of the people who were involved with his caregiving and so instrumental in teaching others about bald eagles as well as helping the bald eagle population to recover in Maine. It has many other photos of Bart in action then and now. You can find the pdf here: http://www.avianhaven.org/barts_30th_birthday.pdf. Highly recommended!
Big kudos to Avian Haven for this report and for all they do to help birds in trouble.

"My ears filled with the dozy hum of bees and those tiny and odd insect sounds that rise up all around, the sounds mingling in my mind with the good, deep smell of earthy life." Elisabeth Tova Bailey, in The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating
