Re: [Maine-birds] The story of Bart, Maine State Eagle!

Dear Amy,

This is a great thing and I recommend everyone take a look at this. I had
worked with my dear friend SID BAHRT..... and remembered his relationship
with BART the Eagle. Sid Bahrt was one of my first speakers for (Warblers
and Wildflowers Festival) now Acadia Birding Festival.back in 1998
............. Thank you for reminding me of my friend Sid and celebrating
Bart the Eagles birthday.

Michael

Dianne Winn and Marc Payne of Avian Haven, Bart's retirement home, has put
together a marvelous retrospective of his life in honor of his 30th
birthday. Included are photos and newspaper articles from his juvenile days
recuperating from the gunshot wound that resulted in his career as an
educational bird and of the people who were involved with his caregiving and
so instrumental in teaching others about bald eagles as well as helping the
bald eagle population to recover in Maine. It has many other photos of
Bart in action then and now. You can find the pdf here:
http://www.avianhaven.org/barts_30th_birthday.pdf. Highly recommended!

Big kudos to Avian Haven for this report and for all they do to help birds
in trouble.
