[Maine-birds] Barred owl feeding

I had the remarkable pleasure today of spotting a barred owl close to the road along Flying Point Rd. near the Freeport/Brunswick line. It was perched low in an old poplar about 10 m from the edge of the road. That was cool in itself and I was about to leave, when the owl took flight, landed about 5 m from my car, and grabbed a vole. Chomp, chomp, gulp, and the vole was gone. Then, the owl looked at me ("mmm, you should try one of these"), and flew back up to a branch. Amazing.
