[Maine-birds] fallout yesterday on Damariscove Island

My friend Nancy Bither was one of the leaders for the Boothbay Region Land Trust's annual trip to take all the Boothbay 5th graders to Damariscove yesterday morning and sent me this email about the amazing bird fallout that she observed there.

Jeff Wells

"Never have I seen so many warblers! Both sides of the trail from the cabin to the north end were just hopping! Thousands of redstarts...I counted 15 different species.... A very big plus is no warbler neck! All birds were at eye level or below. Fun to look down at the black cap of a Wilson's! A scarlet tanager on the rocks in the water at the north end - 4 Canada's with a Swainsons thrush on the beach by the Weasels cabin. 100+ Empidonax flycatchers. Even the 5th graders thought it was magical!"
