Thur. 23 May 2013
A busy feeder this afternoon with six species of the sparrow family at one time, Chipping, Song, Swamp, S-c Junco, White-throated, and a beautiful breeding plumaged White-crowned Sparrow.
Five male and three female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds fighting over the feeders.
Several male Goldfinches also fighting over feeder space with two of them actually tangling together and falling to the ground pecking and grappling as the rolled around on the ground under the feeder.
An additional conflict was between a Catbird and Brown Thrasher, also over space at the ground feeder.
Several pacifist Mourning Doves ignored the whole thing and continued feeding in the midst of all of this.
