[Maine-birds] upcoming event & goldfinches

Saturday, March 30--     12 noon-2:30 PM Harlequin Duck Boat Cruise Join Bob & Sandi Duchesne on a quest for the threatened Harlequin duck---so vividly marked that it takes its name from the Italian clown.  The shores Isle au Haut and surrounding islands are thought to be the principal wintering grounds in the US for this captivating bird.  On this 2-hour cruise, we expect to also see Surf, White-winged and Black Scoters, Horned and Red-necked Grebe, Red-throated and Common Loon, Long-tailed Ducks, Buffleheads, Red-breasted Mergansers, Purple Sandpipers, and at least one other surprise. $30 pp; depart from Isle au Haut Ferry dock in Stonington; contact Island Heritage Trust at 348-2455 FMI and to register. www.islandheritagetrust.org
