Sabattus Pond is finally starting to heat up. Cameron Cox and I birded it this afternoon. Despite unexpected fog reducing visibility, we tallied:
470 Ruddy Ducks
154 Mallards
133 Lesser Scaup
15 Greater Scaup
14 American Black Ducks
12 Buffleheads
11 Hooded Mergansers
7 Red-breasted Mergansers
2 Canada Geese
2 Mallard x American Black Duck hybrids
2 Common Goldeneyes
2 Common Loons
1 Northern Pintail
