[Maine-birds] Peregrine Falcon + Unknown shorebird-- Portland

A single peregrine falcon was chasing birds around back cove in portland around 12:30 PM. The falcon was chasing a small bird over the cove. Closer inspection of photos taken showed the falcon was chasing a large sandpiper! I was unable to ID the bird from the small, blury image but the basic coloration and body shape was "dowitcher-esque". As far as I could tell the falcon did not catch the bird. The sandpiper was originally flushed from the grassy area along the walking path, accessible from the parking lot across from hanaford. Might be worth a look.

cheers,

Mathais
