[Maine-birds] Re: spotting scope

I got a very nice Nikon field spotting scope from Maine Audubon gift shop for $400 about 10 years ago.   I'm not at home and forget the exact model.  One reason I chose it was because it is lightweight, and also because the optics are quite good.  

But also remember that your tripod is an important element as well.  Some are flimsy and very susceptible to vibration so I decided to spend almost another $200 on a sturdy model and I'm glad I did.
