Weather:
Well, the weather didn't play out how I was hoping it would. Rain/drizzle and poor visibility delayed the start until a little past noon. Light mist was still hanging around but visibility had improve quite a lot, but it only lasted for about an hour or so before filling back in. The afternoon clearing I had hoped for never really happened. There were a few bright spots in the sky here and there but that's all they were, bright spots among mostly dark clouds spitting rain and drizzle. The winds were not as strong as yesterdays reports but they were coming from the east and northeast. After a couple hours without much success and worsening conditions I called it a day.
Raptor Observations:
Slim pickings today. Local birds were laying low, except for one Turkey Vulture who was airborne for a short period. The one bird I counted came in close to the mountain and moved WNW with a light tailwind.
Non-raptor Observations:
The area was pretty quiet which didn't make the day-list look too impressive. Hawkwatch Junco and his lady friend shared their millet with five White-throated Sparrows.
Predictions:
The morning was looking better than the afternoon tomorrow, however, I just came across that pesky word "fog" in the Forecasters Discussion. Let's hope it disappears quickly so we can find some birds before the rain approaches. The chance for rain begins to increase by early afternoon. Winds should be southerly and maybe a little southeast. Temps will still be cool, in the mid 40's but the sea breeze may drop that down some more at the summit.
