Visitors:
15 visitors today.

Weather:
Clouds moved out early on during the morning revealing a brilliantly blue sky and plentiful sun. In the afternoon some high scattered clouds moved back in but didn't amount to much. Air temps climbed up into the 60s by the final hour of the count. Today's winds were a little stronger than predicted and remained that way right from the start. There were periods of calm air but more wind than not. The direction of wind was not great for migration, coming from the E and SE most of the day. Visibility was unlimited with some heat distortion.

Raptor Observations:
I don't think think we were missing lots of birds over our heads hidden in the vast blue sky. I just don't think many birds were flying today. The morning was extremely quiet but eventually a few migrants passed by and the local Broadwings started to display quite often vocalizing as well. Birds were pretty scattered about with the exception of the migrant BW's who seemed to take a similar line from WSW to NE over the mountain.

Non-raptor Observations:
One more new arrival showed up overnight which was a Nashville Warbler who greeted me at the summit, singing away from the tops of the trees. Hawkwatch Junco and his companion have been seen with nesting material and got into a small dispute with the resident Blue-headed Vireo who may have come too close. 36 species were seen or heard today.

Predictions:
Derek and Jeannette are on for tomorrow and it looks like they may have to contend with some rain in the afternoon hours. Temps should be fairly mild, in the high 50s to low 60s. There is some potential for a little sunshine in the morning before clouds start to fill in as the rain approaches. Thunder may be present in the afternoon. Winds are predicted to to be shifting to the SW during the overnight and remaining so for much of the day, with maybe a slight shift to SSW. This hopefully will bring some new arrivals for the species list and a few more raptors out ahead of the rain.
