[Maine-birds] Mystery bird was probably Red-necked Grebe

Thank you everyone who sent me the ID that is most likely- Red-necked Grebe (not Great Cormorant). I knew all along it wasn't big enough for that Cormorant, and after looking forever at the bad photos I remembered that it was sitting like a duck on the beach when I first saw it, not upright as I expect to see a Cormorant. And one photo shows it with most of its body above the waterline, not sloping down into the water. But I didn't know the answer,  So, thank you all!
