[Maine-birds] Clinton today: 10 White-winged Gulls, Greater Scaup & more

The Golden Eagle was more elusive today;  Jeff Webb and I missed it after driving around for almost 2 hours, although we did get a look at it across the river from the Shawmut dam last Sunday.  We were very surprised to see 3 GLAUCOUS and 7 ICELAND GULLS resting on the ice and swimming in a mixed flock of about 80 gulls, just above the dam.

Also at the dam were a pair of GREATER SCAUP, and below the dam at the bend of the river were 200+ GOLDENEYE, a little too distant to ID most of them (couldn't pick out any Barrows).

Near Flood Farm a COOPER'S and 2 RED-TAILED HAWK were seen, and they did seem to be making the gulls and crows take flight in large numbers.  A 3rd Red-tailed was seen perched just down the road.     A very birdy area for inland Maine in early February.
