[Maine-birds] King Eider Prouts Neck and Spring in the Air!

I got out this morning before work and spent about 40 quality minutes at Prouts Neck. I was very happy to finally get a look at the distant and continuing drake King Eider. I had only seen an immature KIEI in my life prior to this despite many attempts to locate reported drakes over the last two winters. So I feel more like this bird is completed as a lifebird. If I were to see a female/immature Painted Bunting, it would be a lifebird and really nice to see, but I don't think full satisfaction would be met until I got a nice look at a male.

It was great to hear birds singing this morning including Cardinals, House Finches, Chickadees, White-Breasted Nuthatch, and a Purple Finch. A second year Bald Eagle flew over the yacht club as I was leaving, getting a flock of White-Winged Scoters and Gulls out of the water. Territorial Cardinal displays were going on when I arrived at work. Things are changing!

Bird haahd,
