[Maine-birds] Strawberry Island

I had a Condo Association meeting for a prperty I manage in Kenebunk today so I snuck over to Strawberry Island on my way home.  When I got back to my car I saw an interesting Goldeneye.  I don't know enough about their plumage cycles and maturation process so I will make the assumption that I saw a juvenile drake CoGo, but the feather pattern on the back was much more like a Drake Barrows.

I have uploaded two images for ID to the Maine Birds Flickr site (all are welcomed to join.)

The duck was backlit so I did my best to compensate.  The head shape is CoGo,  The cheek spot is not well defined, but more similar to CoGo than BaGo.

Take a look and let me know if we are talking hybrid here.

Cheers,
Chuck
