[Maine-birds] Recent HOLDEN photos for fun

I'm especially enjoying the spring returnees from my window, and have included some recent photos (including winter ones) at this address:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellenrc/.

There have been 3 male rose-breasted grosbeaks here together for the last week, but today they weren't quite so tolerant of each other's company.  There's a girl in the mix now.

I didn't have any goldfinches all winter, but now they've returned in all their golden splendor, with  one of them having hogged most of the gold.

Chickadees have taken up residence in their favorite nest box here.  They build their nests with the softest materials they can find.  Last week I combed my indoor cat, and put a huge handful of hair out for their nesting.  What fun watching the chickadees  take all of it into the box within 15 minutes!

A female cardinal has been visiting my feeder lately, and has just arrived.  It doesn't get much better than this!
