Greater Portland

A MARBLED GODWIT was photographed at the Pine Point jetty on the 20th. This bird was seen further upriver with a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the 21st.

At least one WILSON'S PHALAROPE was still being reported in the pannes off the Eastern Trail through the Scarborough Marsh on the 22nd. Four individuals were reported here at the beginning of the week.

A massive flight of nearly 3,000 birds was observed from Sandy Point Beach at Cousin's Island in Yarmouth on the 23rd, highlighted by a CONNECTICUT WARBLER and a DICKCISSEL. On the 24th a WESTERN KINGBIRD and GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH were also reported from here.

Lewiston-Auburn

Two SANDHILL CRANES continued to be seen around the fields along the east side of Route 26 at Shaker Hill in Poland on the 18th.

Midcoast

On the 23rd, a young SWAINSON'S HAWK was photographed from a hawk-watching site off Basin Point in South Harpswell.

Highlights from Monhegan Island this week included: a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON that has been present since the 9th, a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER on the 19th, a WESTERN KINGBIRD on the 20th, at least four DICKCISSEL, plus a LARK SPARROW and multiple CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS daily.

A WESTERN KINGBIRD and a GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH were reported from Hermit Island on the 24th.

Downeast

A LITTLE GULL was reported off the west end of Sutton's Island off Seal Harbor on Mount Desert Island on the 21st.

In Acadia National Park, a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was seen near the Jordan Pond House on the 22nd.

On the 18th, a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was photographed in the wrack line along the Passamaquoddy walking path a Pleasant Point.
