[Maine-birds] Re: drivable Bicknell's site?

Yes, there is a Bicknell's Thrush area in Maine that is driveable! In the Reddington Valley, near Sugarloaf. Take theCaribou Pond Road in to the AT crossing and a mile or so beyond if your vehicle can stand it. This is a Mountain Birdwatch survey area  I am doing for the first time this year. You probably know that they sing VERY early in the morning, as in 4 AM to 8 AM. Good luck!

I have a friend coming from CA who would like to see a Bicknell's Thrush.  Age and mobility are issues though, so climbing to the top of Bigelow isn't going to work.  Are there any sites in Maine that are drivable, or drivable with a short walk (say ¼ mile or less)?  I am aware of Mt Washington in NH as the easiest drivable Bicknell's site, we were hoping to stay in Maine.
