[Maine-birds] Bohemian Waxwings and Barrow's Goldeneye Down East

We observed 80+ Bohemian Waxwings (no Cedar Waxwings) along Route 1 in the Crab Apple trees at Bar Harbor Bank and Trust parking lot.  We checked the East Machias River above the Route 1 bridge for ducks and found 4 Mallards, 8+ Black Ducks, 12+ Bufflehead, 42 Common Goldeneye and one male Barrow's Goldeneye.  A flock of 41 Bohemian Waxwings were feeding in shrubs just above the bridge.

 

The ducks are concentrated in open parts of the river - it is largely frozen this year.
