[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights and Shorebird High Counts, 7/27-8/2.

Hi all,

A few observations of note over the past seven days included the following:
- A family group of Peregrine Falcons remain easy to observe around the Brunswick-Topsham dam and bridge this week.
- 1 Chukar, Desert Road, Freeport - flushed from roadside as I was biking to work. Almost caused a crash. Rare away from southern Brunswick where escapees/releases are frequent.
- 2 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, Eastern Road Trail, Scarborough Marsh, 8/1.
- 1 continuing LITTLE EGRET, Pelreco Marsh, Scarborough Marsh, 8/2.
- PATCHES, the TRICOLORED HERON X white egret HYBRID, Eastern Road Trail, 8/2.

But with shorebird migration in full swing, these are my high counts over the past week:
Black-bellied Plover: 25, Wharton Point, Brunswick, 7/31.
Semipalmated Plover: 32, Pine Point, Scarborough, 8/2.
Piping Plover: 2, Pine Point, 8/2.
Killdeer: 3, Eastern Road Trail, Scarborough Marsh, 8/2.
AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER: 2 ad with 2 juveniles,  Pine Point, 8/1 and 8/2.
Spotted Sandpiper: 3, Pine Point, 8/2. 
Whimbrel: 6, Eastern Road, 8/2.
Greater Yellowlegs: 43, Eastern Road Trail, 7/30 (with Jeannette). 
"Eastern" Willet: 9, Pine Point, 8/2.
Lesser Yellowlegs: 12, Eastern Road Trail, 8/2.
STILT SANDPIPER (FOY): 2 ad, Eastern Road Trail, 8/1.
Least Sandpiper: 50++, Eastern Road Trail, 8/1.
White-rumped Sandpiper (FOF): 3, Eastern Road Trail, 8/1.
Pectoral Sandpiper (FOF): 1, Eastern Road Trail, 7/30 (with Jeannette) and 8/2.
Semipalmated Sandpiper: 600+, Eastern Road Trail, 8/1.
Short-billed Dowitcher: 93, Eastern Road Trail, 8/1.
