the feeder population is picking up again--last week had four bluebirds chasing everyone else away, and now am seeing more woodpeckers. A downy reappeared last week and a red-bellied today. Saw and heard a hairy woodpecker in the oak trees and had two flickers in the yard. A few days ago a few grackles and red-winged blackbirds swept in and out, today about 30 appeared.
-- saw a flotilla of wood-ducks on the pond plus the usual mallards--
I think the geese may have finally departed-- the changing of the guard--
