[Maine-birds] Acadia's "Quietside" goodies this morning, Mt. Desert Island

Hi all -- Just back from a couple hours of early birding around Bass Harbor Marsh, Bernard / Lopaus Pt., and Seawall. Highlights ...

Whimbrel 5: Bernard Inlet -- Keenan's food truck pull-out. Flew in as a silent group, wheeled for a landing, then opted to move along.

Solitary Sandpiper (1), Least Sandpiper (2) -- Bernard, mini-inlet / marsh off Crockett Point Road

Surf Scoter (1) -- Mitchell Cove, seen from Lopaus Pt. Road (scope essential)

Black Guillemot (52) -- counted singly and on both sides of Lopaus Point (Mitchell Cove and Back Beach). High count; interesting.

Belted Kingfisher at Tremont School / Bass Harbor Marsh outlet

Gannets, Black Scoter, and one W-w Scoter at Seawall

Common Yellowthroat, R-t Hummers, and a few other routine buddies.

Cheers,
Craig K
