Hi all,
Steve Howell and I had what might
have been the Little Egret well off in the distance from the salt pannes at the Eastern Road Trail.
Noah Gibb photographed what was probably the same bird as we saw today two days ago, and the plumes have broken in half (at least). Steve and I noticed a lack of bright yellow lores on the bird, which were visible on adjacent Snowies. The greenish-yellow feet (as opposed to golden yellow) were also supportive of Little, but can be shown by Snowy.
Although we studied Snowies that gave the suggestion of single elongated plumes, this one bird certainly suggested something other than a Snowy, or at least a pure one.
Head shape and bill length were tough to judge in the heat shimmer.
The bird flew off and we were unable to relocate it, but between our's and Noah's observation, it is possible the Little Egret is still present.
