Comments: Andrew Holmes from DC started the day early at dawn and woke up with Sieur De Mont Spring Barred Owl

Barred Owl (Strix varia) 3 These birds were heard at 5 oclock

Red-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta canadensis) 2
Hermit Thrush (Catharus guttatus) 1 This first year Hermit Thrush was foraging and moving around with an adult American Robin. A tight relationship seemed to have been made and the Hermit Thrush was seen following the Robin through the woods.

Comments: Andrew Holmes from DC and I were surprised when we happened on an Juvenile Coopers Hawk and three Pileated Woodpeckers in a competitive flying match which lasted 50 minutes and included some amazing aerobatics and slick flying through the dense forest around the north side pf the road into Sieur de Mont spring. At one point Andrew and I were ducking to get out of the way of these amazing shows going on...wow I was tired after this experience. The behavior seems to be a game which ended when the first car pulled in
