York County

Two LARK SPARROWS were seen on the Isle of Shoals on the 18th.

On the evening of the 17th, an AMERICAN AVOCET was photographed along Hills Beach in Biddeford.

A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was banded on Stratton Island on the 19th.

Greater Portland

A whale watch out of Portland on the 15th reported: three CORY'S SHEARWATERS and on the return trip a basic plumage PACIFIC LOON.

The LITTLE EGRET, which had not been seen since the 8th, was relocated off the Eastern Trail through the Scarborough Marsh on the 18th. The bird could also be easily seen from the public access point on the left side of Sandy Point Road in Scarborough. Also notable in the marsh, two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were seen in the pannes off the Eastern Trail.

Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)

On the evening of the 18th, a flock of over one hundred COMMON NIGHTHAWKS was seen over a field in Norridgewock.

Midcoast

Unusual in the summer, a LONG-TAILED DUCK, four BLACK SCOTERS, and one WHITE-WINGED SCOTER continue to be seen from Simpson's Point in Brunswick.

Three juvenile STILT SANDPIPERS were seen at Popham Beach State Park on the 16th. A 'WESTERN' WILLET was also seen here on the 17th.

On the 19th, a DICKCISSEL was seen visiting feeders in Newcastle.

Central Maine

Two GREAT EGRETS continued at the Essex Woods in Bangor on the 14th.

Western Mountains

On the 16th, twelve shorebird species were reported from the Fryeburg Harbor area, around Harbor and McNeil Roads, most notably: five PECTORAL SANDPIPERS. Also, a continuing SANDHILL CRANE has also been seen in this area.

Northern Maine

A pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS continues to be seen in Baxter State Park this week.

On the evening of the 13th, over one hundred COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen circling over Medway, near the highway.

Trafton Lake in Limestone hosted a RUDDY TURNSTONE on the morning of the 19th.
