[Maine-birds] Bar Harbor whale watch today

Jeff Webb and I took the afternoon whale watch out of Bar Harbor today on the Friendship V.  The main whale activity was near Mt. Desert Rock, with a pod of 4 Humpbacks & 2 loners seen as well as 1 Fin.   Good numbers of pelagic birds but little variety... we couldn't pick out a single Shearwater that wasn't a Greater, although we tried our best.  Lots of Phalaropes in numerous small flocks, but mostly on the move or too distant to ID.

Species seen:

~20 Wilson's Storm Petrel
100+ Phalarope sp. (mostly in flight)
100+ Northern Gannets
300+ Greater Shearwater
1 Black Guillemot
1 Hummingbird (about 8 miles offshore)

1 Monarch butterfly (seen right after Hummingbird)

6 Humpback Whale
1 Fin Whale
150+ Gray Seals
100+ Harbor Seals (both Seal species at Mt. Desert Rock)
