Given the paucity of Shrike in southern Maine I thought Maine-birds subscribers would be interested to know that, today, with John Heath and Leon Mooney, we located the continuing Northern Shrike found by Joanne Stevens on the 12th and seen again by Marian Zimmerman on the 14th. It was on Lund Road, Saco (Industrial Park) on the left side of the road, teed up in a small tree on the edge of phragmites, just beyond the left/right jog in the road. Cars were seen whizzing by on I 95 on the backside of the Phragmites, however we were unable to ID makes and models.
Thank you Joanne.....rob speirs, cumberland
