[Maine-birds] Additional Highlights This Week, 3/16-22

Hi all,

Some sightings of note from me in the past seven days, in addition to what I have previously posted here, included:
- 1 drake Ring-necked Duck (first of spring), Yarmouth Harbor, 3/16 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk Group).
- 1 Fish Crow (FOY), Fort Foster, Kittery, 3/17 (with Phil McCormack).
- 3 "Ipswich" Savannah Sparrows (FOY), Seapoint Beach, Kittery, 3/17 (with Phil McCormack).
- 1 drake Northern Pintail (first of spring), Shore Rd, York, 3/17 (with Phil McCormack).
- 5 Wood Ducks (FOY) and 6 Harlequin Ducks from the same spot along Shore Rd, York, 3/17 (with Phil McCormack).  I don't think I've seen this gaudy juxtaposition before!
- 1 Fish Crow, Bath landfill, 3/18 (I haven't had one here before).
- 1 adult Northern Goshawk, our yard in Pownal, 3/19.
- 1 Brown-headed Cowbird (first of spring), here at the store, 3/21.
- 15 Harlequin Ducks, Dyer Point, Cape Elizabeth, 3/22.
- 1 GRAY CATBIRD, Crescent Beach State Park, Cape Elizabeth, 3/22.  Presumably overwintered locally.
- 1 Northern Flicker, Village Crossings, Cape Elizabeth, 3/22.
- 1 1st-year Glaucous Gull and 2 1st-year Iceland Gulls, Mill Creek Cove, South Portland, 3/22.

- 15 Evening Grosbeaks and 75 Common Redpolls (high count this week) visited our yard in Pownal this morning,  while a single male Purple Finch there on 3/19 was our first in over 2 months.
