> Weather:
> A beautiful day to be on the mountain. The wind was light, out of the
> northeast to start the day before drifting around to the south-southeast.
> The cloud cover increased through the middle of the day, then drifted away
> leaving plenty of sunshine to warm temperatures to the low 60s.
>
> Raptor Observations:
> A light southerly wind in the afternoon wasn't enough to produce many
> raptors. The highlight of the day was a local Bald Eagle being driven away
> by a pair of Ospreys a few miles out. Sharp-shinned Hawks made up half the
> day's tally, much to the dismay of the local songbirds.
>
> Non-raptor Observations:
> Great diversity today despite the lack of migrants. 42 species were
> observed, including the first Northern Rough-winged Swallow of the year. A
> variety of warblers, woodpeckers, and sparrows have been livening up the
> summit.
>
> Non-raptor Migrants:
>
> Double-crested Cormorant- 31 Chimney Swift- 6
> Tree Swallow- 6 Northern Rough-winged Swallow- 1
> Barn Swallow- 3 American Goldfinch- 3 Purple Finch- 1
>
> Predictions:
> High pressure stays in place, providing another day of mild temps and
> sunshine. The wind may be a little stronger than today, but it will follow
> a similar pattern: beginning the day out of the northeast and swinging
> around to the south-southeast. A few clouds in the morning will quickly
> clear, leaving blue skies with the occasional whisp of white. High
> temperatures are projected to be in the upper 50s. Maybe the first juvenile
> Broad-winged Hawks will show up.
