[Maine-birds] Seal Island National Wildlife Refuge - Update from the Outermost House in Penobscot Bay

Hey there birdy peeps,

Migration on Seal Island has been picking up as of late. Recent highlights have been the continuing Tropicbird, a juvi Yellow-crowned Night Heron that has been around since August 7th, and today a Yellow-headed Blackbird being chased around by the remaining Terns. Puffins are still here in good numbers >500 individuals but, Razorbills, not surprisingly, are completely gone. Seawatching has been productive recently over the past few days. Increased numbers of gannets (well over 100 streaming by a couple days ago), a pair of Parasitic Jaegers, tens of Cory's Shearwaters, a handful of Great Shearwaters and Red-necked Phalaropes. Shorebird numbers are still low but, we are starting to see an increase of the usual suspects.

More to come and keep an eye on my Flickr account for photos....
