Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end   time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter:        Katrina Fenton

Observers:        Don Thompson, Zane Baker

Visitors:
10.

Weather:
There was little warmth to today's southwest wind, which increased to
10-15mph by midday. Early morning clouds passed quickly out of view,
leaving mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies for the rest of the day.
Temperatures rose to the upper 20s after starting in the teens.

Raptor Observations:
Buteos again dominated the day. The southerly aspect to the wind pushed
migrants close to the mountain, and ample sunshine generated thermals late
into the afternoon. Red-shouldered and Red-tailed Hawks set their wings to
surf the wind while local birds kept guard to make sure no one got too
neighborly.

Non-raptor Observations:
The morning was surprisingly devoid of migrants on a day that started with
light winds. There was not a blackbird to be seen. The resident
Black-capped Chickadees were in full voice, singing and calling with gusto
as they worked their way around the summit.

Non-raptor Migrants:
Canada Goose- 28   Common Merganser- 2  Purple Finch- 1

Predictions:
It now looks like the massive nor'easter predicted for tomorrow may track
far enough off shore that we miss the snow. However, we'll still have to
deal with overcast skies and a strong north wind that could gust well over
30mph. Conditions will improve a little later in the week.
