[Maine-birds] Wesserunsett Lake, Madison

A pair of Common Loons & a pair of Common Mergansers were in the several acres of open water off of Hayden Brook & Lakewood this morning. An adult Bald Eagle was on the edge of the ice not far away, but the loons & mergansers did not seem concerned. The loons were later observed diving under the ice and surfacing in small openings nearby.

Common Loons have been reported flying over the lake & calling since April 22.

The main body of the lake is still ice-covered.
