[Maine-birds] Schoodic Point SeaWatch/Cadillac Mtn Hawk Watch

Both projects are well underway and flights at both sites are picking up (as one would expect).

The SeaWatch is seeing smallish "strings" of Double-crested Cormorants, this morning for instance, groups of 45, 34 , 15 , 10 , 10 .
Common Loon are moving as well, some 22 this morning during a 2 hour stint - and yesterday, the first of the season, 3 Red-throated Loon were observed.
Scoter, all three species, are being observed with Surf Scoter "dominating" the flights thus far.

Other observations include a steady "stream" of Monarch butterflies: this morning, 32 in total as of 10 AM.
Merlin (6) zipped past the point today as well.

You can follow the Cadillac Mountain Hawk Watch at www.hawkcount.org
