[Maine-birds] Bremen saga

I have a whole new respect for American Kestrels.  A Mourning Dove hit my window and was dead on the ground this morning. A female kestrel came along plucked it then a group of turkeys wandered in. She kept them at bay, dragged the body about 10 feet, let go and flew to the fence. After seeing me the turkeys ran off then came back. She fended them off, grabbed, well dragged, her prey under a bush screeching, and then fell to it. Feisty little thing. She is now eating a well-deserved lunch.
