The goose in question is named Blackie, and is a female born from an egg purchased at Paris Farmers Union. That sounds pretty domestic. I learned this from a Stroudwater woman who is part of a second generation watching over this small flock. They are descendants of a remnant of a prize flock White Emdens, which were kept at a farm a little farther out Congress Street where the Elks hall and insurance company are now. It existed well into the 1960s.
